Brilliant things to do

in June

The month of the sun, the summer solstice, long and hot days and sunsets that never end.

The only summer month that is nice to spend in the city, but only if you know the best addresses to escape the heat (our favourites at the bottom of the calendar).

18.02.22 – 03.07.22 HENRI CARTIER – BRESSON. CHINA 1948-49. MUDEC

The exhibition traces the ten months spent by the photographer in China on behalf of Life magazine. The pioneer of photojournalism found himself in the country during the establishment of the communist regime, as documented by the more than one hundred prints and archival materials that will be viewable at MUDEC. An unmissable opportunity!

25.02.22 – 26.06.22 JOAQUIN SOROLLA. PITTORE DI LUCE. PALAZZO REALE

Milan hosts the first monographic exhibition in Italy of the Iberian artist with a wide selection of works. Considered one of the greatest exponents of painting at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, he was also a lover of the Bel Paese, a passion well expressed in some of the paintings on display. One more reason not to miss this opportunity!

16.03.22 – 31.07.22 CHAGALL. UNA STORIA DI DUE MONDI. MUDEC

An exhibition project that shows us an unusual Chagall focused on his graphic and illustration works for publishing. Also on display are the original drawings that Chagall conceived for the books of his beloved wife Bella, centred on their childhood memories, in the Jewish community of Vitebsk in today’s Belarus.

22.04.22 – 11.09.22 DAVID LACHAPELLE. I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES. MUDEC

This exhibition is about humans as seen through the lens and the very personal gaze of the American photographer. More than 90 works exhibited to retrace a decades-long career; between sacred and profane, fashion and nature, LaChapelle immerses us in a baroque atmosphere made of imaginative narratives and unexpected details, colour and theatricality.

04 – 11.06.22 SHEN YUN. TEATRO DEGLI ARCIMBOLDI

A Chinese dance show that is literally going around the world, dedicated to the rediscovery of this art, narrates the glories of the Tang court and heroism on the battlefield. A riot of music and colours to rediscover Chinese culture as you’ve never seen it before.

16.06.22 – 02.07.22 MILANO PRIDE WEEK

Almost two weeks of events related to the LGBTQIA + world; meetings, exhibitions, talks, parties and the traditional final parade (Saturday 2 July). The parade will start from “Piazza Duca d’Aosta” to arrive at the “Arco della Pace”.

17 – 21.06.22 MILANO FASHION WEEK

Fashion shows, exhibitions and events for a fashion week that finally returns to its usual splendour and brings the most outstanding representatives of world men’s fashion to the city. The calendar is hectic, and we advise you to consult it here.

23.06.22 KENDRICK LAMAR. MILANO SUMMER FESTIVAL. STADIO SAN SIRO

The American rapper, songwriter and record producer and Pulitzer Prize winner returns to Italy with his latest work, Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers. Black Lives Matter, pandemic, and war are the macro-themes dealt with in this demanding album that comes out five years after the previous “Damn”.

AND TO ESCAPE THE HEAT.

Bagni Misteriosi del Teatro Franco Parenti (ex Caimi)

This swimming pool dates back to the 1930s. Aperitif by the pool from Thursday to Sunday until 11 pm!

Alfresco

It is a garden, a restaurant, and a meeting place, and it is as delicious as its cuisine. The wine list is excellent, and the shade of the wisteria in bloom is priceless.

Isola Pepe Verde

A shared garden in which spaces and activities live thanks to the voluntary contribution of the visitors; a different way of experiencing greenery, cared for by the citizens themselves. There is a play area for children.
